Now, in line with its growing eCommerce focus, Facebook has announced, through a live stream by Mark Zuckerberg, a range of new shopping and discovery tools such as Shops on WhatsApp, Shop listings in Facebook Marketplace, new visual product search options on Instagram and Shops Ads.

Here are some details about the new shopping and discovery tools straight from Mark – 

  • Shops on WhatsApp:Users will be able to view a Shop in WhatsApp and chat with the business before making a purchase. Businesses only need to set up their shop once to have it work across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.”
  • Shops on Marketplace:Considering over one billion people use Marketplace each month, Facebook has decided to make it easy for businesses to bring their Shops into Marketplace to reach even more people.”
  • Instagram Visual Search:The feature will help people discover products based on images that inspire them.”
  • Shop Ads:New ads will be launched to help businesses personalise the shopping experience and point people to a Shop’s curated collection.”
